Who are Raging for Change?

Network

We're a non-hierarchical network. We're dedicated to campaigning against the complacency and inactivity of the world’s governments in tackling the imminent and catastrophic threat of climate change.

Actions

We provide simple and effective actions with maximum impact for the climate. Our actions aim to bypass usual greenwashing and distraction techniques to strike at the root cause of the climate emergency.

Impact

We tackle climate change through political engagement and the withdrawal of finance for those funding or profiteering from fossil fuels or the exploitation of our planet.

I’m raging: I’ve worked in the environmental sciences for over 35 years as a researcher and a University lecturer, as well as working in the renewables industry. I learnt about climate change when I was at school and we’re still fighting the UK Government and big business to get them to listen to scientists and do something about it. They have left it to the very last minute. We can no longer prioritise profit and greed over our planet and so it’s time to back control and withdraw our money and support from those who are not part of the solution.

I’m raging: I’m an Environmental Scientist, studying a MSc in Environmental Management. I’m working to reduce my carbon footprint but options like RyanAir flights and Primark clothing continue to be the most convenient. In 2017 I challenged myself to be #FastFashionFree but despite growing awareness of what needs to be done, environmentally friendly options are often inconvenient and expensive. While we’re doing our best as individuals, I’m now challenging businesses and governments to stop distracting us with green-washing and micro-consumerist tactics and start pulling their weight.

I’m raging: I live in Kendall and have seen first hand the impact of deforestation on our landscape particularly in terms of flooding. I worked for the 32 years for the NHS, initially as an occupational therapist then as a senior manager and then the leader of an NHS Commissioning organisation.  I am an active member of the Liberal Democrats in Cumbria. Recently I have taken ownership of 8ha of land in the South Lakes to re-wild and will plant over 3,500 trees for the future. I am seeking ways to grow the movement to keep global warming within the 1.5°c rise committed to at the Paris COP and know that acting alone isn’t enough.

I’m raging: I grew up in Kilmun and we had the US navy base at Holy Loch on our doorstep. I demonstrated at their base, at faslane, and in Glasgow. The 80’s were a time where more people demonstrated against injustices. Today it is vitally important to get out and encourage others to let their voices be heard.  I am a dressmaker, upholsterer and working with textiles, I have been very aware of how this industry is destroying our planet.

I’m raging: Einstein once said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” We can’t wait for leaders to ‘sign’ agreements we must build resilience in all our communities to bring everyone on board for the fight against Climate Chaos.  Over the past twenty+ years I have been professionally rooted in community projects from placemaking, developing conservation programmes for young people and facilitating environmental projects. I have an environmental management degree and most recently I gained my PDC – Permaculture Design Certificate.

I’m raging: I study Environmental Management and Conservation, and I am tired of individuals carrying the guilt for the state of this planet, and not the power structures that directly profit off delayed action, greenwashing, and false promises. I have seen the passion and care of so many people who don’t know how to make a difference, and who bear that weight alone. But together we can decide what kind of world we want to live in, and disrupt business as usual for once and all.
